The intended behaviour here is to automatically sort by the value actually displayed in the column. So, if you’ve selected Display Author As, selected to display First Name and enabled sorting, it should sort by the first name and not the username. Is it not sorting correctly in your setup?

Well, no, sorting is not working correctly. Here are screenshots of setup and list.

Ah, that’s the sorting you’re talking about! What you’re referring to is the sorting in the filtering dropdown. I thought you were talking about the sorting of the posts in the posts list. There is currenty no way to change the ordering of the items in the dropdown, but we will look into implementing this in the future, probably by sorting alphabetically by default and allowing you to filter the list of options.
