I’ve been using the Almost Spring theme by Beccary for some time now, and it’s definitely outdated at this point. It doesn’t support widgets or some of the other new features, but I’d really like to find an upgraded version.

Has anyone updated this theme as is, without altering the appearance? I see that it’s available on WordPress.com, but I’d like to use it on my own site and am not sure how to download it.

Thanks in advance for your help 🙂

If you are running WordPress 2.7.1 then you can get an updated copy with threaded comments as well as widgets from Automattic’s SVN repository at

    http://svn.automattic.com/wpcom-themes/almost-spring/

Automattic is the company behind WordPress.COM and they make their themes available via SVN.

If you have a command line version of svn then backup your existing files and run

    cd wp-content/themes
    svn co http://svn.automattic.com/wpcom-themes/almost-spring/ almost-spring

    And activate the theme.

Or if you want, download, virus scan, double check, etc. the SVN copy I just made on my site at

    http://wp.dembowski.net/wp-content/almost-spring.zip

This will also contain the .svn folders. I’m a fan of Subversion.

As with the SVN copy, make sure you backup your files before you try this.

I’ve been using Almost Spring for a very long time too, so I’m very grateful for your update. That’s one hurdle less to take before I can perform an upgrade on our site 🙂
