Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew how to allow contributes (or any other role for that matter) edit posts to submit for review? I'm developing a site with lots of content and I want to allow other people at my company to edit the posts (actually, custom posts types, but I don't think it matters), and submit them for review without actually making changes until I approve them. Is there an easy way to do this? I read http://wordpress.org/support/topic/contributor-should-be-able-to-edit-posts-and-re-submit-to-review?replies=8 and installed the plugin but this didn't seem to work, just lets you edit and then publish or return the post to draft status. I want the current version of the post to remain published, then to switch to the submitted version after I approve it.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I have been searching for a solution to the exact same problem!
I have tried several different WP plugins (and combination of plugins) to try and get the result I want but have failed.
Did you manage to find a solution?
Many thanks,
Micsten

I'm also looking for a solution to the same problem as sgelbart as I don't want to take posts down while waiting for updates to be approved. Any updates would be appreciated.

I'm also looking for this solution - without having to use a plugin please.

I ended up using a plugin called Revisionary in conjunction with Capabilities. This allows users to 'save as pending revision' without removing the original. With capabilities I can specify that users can edit others posts but cannot edit published posts, meaning they cannot update the live copy.

Thanks @neilwill! I'd still love to be able to do this without a plugin, but for now it will have to do.

Sorry that plugin is named 'Capability Manager'. It just shows in the menu as capabilities.
