• I am currently a user of Zikula and looking for a way out. My initial research brings me to WordPress, but I find myself wondering if it is appropriate for what I need and/or if it can actually do what I need.

Probably the best way to explain is by example. I’m the administrator of flakelist.org. Registered users can login and submit “flakes” to the database. Once submitted, they are held in a queue, where I can review them before approving them (at which time they go live). Each submission requires a few pieces of data to be collected in the “Report A Flake” form. I need to be able to customize the form fields to obtain the data I need. There are some string fields, textareas, select boxes and checkboxes (for categories/tags). The select boxes allow the users to select their location.

My first line of thought is to use WP blog posts and allow registered users to submit them. But I don’t know if I can set it up so that I can approve the submissions before they go live, and if I can customize the data collected for each post.

Any information or enlightenment is greatly appreciated. I love what I see so far and I’d really like to make this work with WP.
