Allow Editor to See the Store Sales Admin Page? (8 posts)

I'm trying to keep a site partially locked down by using Adminimize and other plugins to hide stuff from a client with a Editor user role. They're not terribly tech savvy and I'm concerned about them messing up the site and costing me a ton of time to fix it.

They can add products to their WPEC store just fine and see sales data in the dashboard. However, they can't see the Store Sales tab because of permissions. How can I make Dashboard>Store Sales available to the editor user role?

Without making changes to the core plugin you can't. I believe adding capabilities is part of the development roadmap.

Depending on what exactly they need to see - this may help:

It offers a range of different capabilities that you can use to grant or restrict access to the various features, e.g.

Thanks for the info/links. So help me understand:

Adding the capabilities to the Editor role, as shown in the 2nd link will only work if using the plugin in the 1st link? Right? So the plugin (1st link) adds a capability that can be assigned to the Editor role (2nd link), but WPEC doesn't have any such permission or capability that could be assigned to the Editor role, allowing them to view the Store Sales apge?

Just trying to make sure I understand what you're saying.

    Correct.

So, just to be clear on this, the plugin in the first link provides a number of reports on the WP dashboard, together with a CSV export so you can export sales to a spreadsheet. All of the actions have specific capabilities that can be assigned to roles. However you still wouldn't be able to let a non-admin access the standard WP e-Commerce information.

Okay, that's very helpful thank you. Unfortunately that plugin doesn't appear to display the information I want the client to see most: the customer's name, email, and products they intended to order (for incomplete orders).

You're right - although they would be able to run an export to download all of the information ...
