• I am using WP as a CMS for a relatively simple website consisting of a blog and four pages. I have had the theme coded and would like to be able to keep the same layout but have different plugins on the blog and on each page. I think that the way to do this is by creating multiple page templates. Is this correct? The Codex guidance on creating templates is pretty thin — Is there a tutorial floating around somewhere on this?

    Thanks.

  • Plugins generally apply to an entire blog – not individual pages. The exceptions are those that provide shortcodes that you enter manually on a post/page basis.

Page templates allow you to change the display of your content on an ad hoc basis. Again, you can add shortcodes to page templates if you’re using plugins that provide these but templating itself doesn’t offer any way to call individual plugins.
