Is there a way or a plugin that we can use to allow authors or contributors to upload, link, and attach word documents and pdfs? I’m having no luck finding anything that allows the upload part.

Did you try searching the Plugin Repository?

Here’s one:

Thanks for the suggestions but neither of these work for my sites with WP 3.1.3 multisite. I’m looking to have a blog author upload a document or attach it to a post for other users to then be able to download. Any other suggestions? I was hoping there would be an option or plug in that would work just like the media files in default wordpress.
