I did a manual upgrade to WP 2.7 and everything works fine, except that no tags show up anywhere...! (Not when I edit the posts, not on the page.)

I am using the Simple Tags plugin and it is set to display tags on the blog.

  2. What version of Simple Tags? You may need to upgrade as it was updated about a week ago.

It is Simple Tags 1.6.4 which should be the most recent one.

I am starting to wonder if this is a more basic problem:

No tags show up for any post, not even the new ones.

When I write or edit any post, I type in a tag, click "update post" or publish, and when the page reloads it is gone. (The auto suggest works though.)

  4. Two thoughts.

    1) Your theme isn't set up for 2.7 and tags
    2) SimpleTags is broken.

So disable simpletags and see if they come back, if not, you'll have to check your theme templates.

Thanks. I disabled simple tags but no improvement.

It must be more fundamental than the theme, since the tags are gone from the post editing page as well. (The tag box is there, I can type in tags and get auto-suggests for tags, but when I click update/publish and the page reloads they are gone.)

It may be more fundamental than simple tags also, although I don't know.

I also just remembered that the tags did work immediately after the upgrade to 2.7 (I checked the tag cloud), so something must have happened between then and now. I did install the TinyMCE Advanced plugin, but disabling it doesn't help with the tag situation.

  6. What other plugins do you have?

I have several, although only ones I have used for a long time without problem.

I am also noticing a couple of other problems:

The spell check doesn't work. And I am also not able to upload images. (Flash upload doesn't work, and when I click "upload" under browser upload it goes to a non-existing page.)

All of these problems happened yesterday. Before then, everything worked fine. (I upgraded to 2.7 a few days ago.) The only thing I changed yesterday was installing the Tiny MCE Advanced plugin, but disabling it doesn't help these problems.

  8. Disable all your plugins. Yes, I know, overkill. Delete TinyMCE and then reenable the rest.

I disabled all plugins and deleted TinyMCE but still no tags.

    To summarize:

I upgraded to WP 2.7 a few days ago and the tags worked fine.

A few days later, the tags are not to be seen on the public blog and the edit post view. (Although they do show up in the tag auto-suggest.) I can type in tags in the edit post view, but when I click update/publish and the page refreshes, the tags are gone.

The only thing I can think of that happened just before the tags disappeared was installing TinyMCE Advanced plugin. I have since disabled and deleted this plugin, but still the same problem with missing tags.

hm... this is strange but the tags now returned. I am not sure why. All I did was making backups to prepare for a reinstall of WP.

I have just installed 2.7 (NOT an upgrade - starting from scratch) and I see no tags anywhere either. I am using the default theme and don't think I've even looked at the plugin settings, let alone installed anything. I see a few other people with similar problems but can't find a solution.

Incidentally, there were some weird time-out's during installation... not sure if that would have anything to do with it? Everything else seems to be working fine.
