   Is there any way to create a link like that of the category and month archive links that will allow me to display x number of posts by a specific contributor? I'm using WP to setup student blogging and would like to link their name such that it shows just their posts.

   I installed Ultimate Tag Warrior, tagged posts by each contributor and manually created links using those tags on the sidebar. It's ugly but it'll do for our purposes.

   Or...add this template tag in your sidebar:

   This one can be used in the post loop:
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/the_author_posts_link
