A site I have been asked to help with just had all pages moved to the Trash. While the site owner was able to move the pages back many of the images are gone from the library, and will have to be recreated. I have found a few other posts describing this same situation from about 9 months ago. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Does anyone know how I can find any logs that could tell me who changes what page on the site when? I am pretty new to word press, but I would expect to be able to find it easily. Someone help please...

Are the missing image files still in the uploads folder somehere?

They are not in the Library even as unattached images. I checked through all the images, and searched for the image name and attributes. I clicked the button to Scan for lost Attachments and nothing was returned.

Sorry - I didn't mean in the Library as seen via the WP dashboard but in the wp-content/uploads folder itself. You'd need to check by FTP.

Hello, jumping in with the SAME PROBLEM!

This morning one of my test sites had all the pages moved to
trash. I tried to go to the site I got page not found, so I went into
the Dashboard and discovered all the pages were now in the trash.
How did that happen?! I restored and republished them all.

All images are gone too - (not including Nextgen Gallery images-they are all still there) , but all the ones that were in the upload folder are completely gone - I checked via FTP

So this is what I was doing last night, I was adding plugins in prep
    for going live today.

    Bad Behavior
    Google XML Sitemap
    Obfuscate E-mail
    Spam Free WordPress
    WordPress Database Backup

I also updated WP and updated Nextgen but I think thats it. I didn't
notice this last night but this morning when I went to the site.

ALso someone I heard from also had this happen - we both were using Thesis theme.

Note: this did happen once before to me not too long ago with another site which I was updating plugins with.

Michael what theme were you using?

I just had this happen this morning.
All pages were in the trash. I retrieved them. I can see them when I view the site logged in as admin. But others get the 404 message.

I just had this happen again to me. The only change I made to the site was to delete the Admin user because of WP Security issues. NOw I am thinking this might actually be the problem with the previous situation I had. If you have pages built with that user then you delete the user, I would imagine it could case it to happen?
All the images were also removed from the upload folders, I suppose user id is connected with the uploaded files too?

Yes! That is exactly what happened I've found. I deleted an Admin and that deleted all the pages created by that person.

I had almost exactly the same experience.

Because of the current WP security issue, we had lost our site to this. I formed a new administrator - logged out - logged in with the new admin identity and deleted the original admin identity including all posts by the original - logged out.

When I looked at the site I had a 404 message with the web site designer details only on page. When I logged in all of the pages were in trash. I restored the site from the ISP back up today. I made all of the changes as above except I did not delete the posts, this was done about 8 hours ago and the site is still up.

My only concern is by deleting the posts had I caused this problem or is there a bug still in the files from the original hack?
