All of my images disappeared! (7 posts)

Okay, so I've been up all night trying to figure this out. And yes, it's probably something really simple (maybe) that I just overlooked, but I know these forums have always been helpful, so here I go!:

(oh and before I continue, yes I know there are thousands of posts just like this, but I've yet to find an answer on any of them...)

I don't know if this is an issue with WordPress in general, or even just with my hosting, but 2 days ago, I had images on all of my posts on 4 websites that I have, and all of a sudden, just yesterday, none of my images are showing up anymore! The images in the sidebars are fine, but for pages AND posts, nothing shows up.

I'll just give 2 examples for 2 of my sites, because you will get what I mean, I don't need to show you all 4 (unless you need me to).

First one is "http://videointerweb.com". On every single post, there should be an image below each title. Also, on the about me page, there should be a picture of me!

Same goes with "http://yourfreegraphics.com". Every post should have an image of the graphic I'm giving away for free, but it only has the download link and some text. This one is especially annoying because I need my visitors to be able to view the graphics before downloading.

And before you go trolling on how the site isn't "established" yet, yes, I know it's nothing big yet. But I'm planning on getting 100 graphics on the site in this next week, and thousands in the next few months, and I need to know that this isn't going to just "happen" every once in awhile where my images don't show!

If ANYONE can give me ANY information you know about this, or any tips I could try, that would really be amazing, because I'm stumped.
Oh and also, my pages load EXTREMELY SLOW!! Like seriously, the "videointerweb" homepage sometimes takes over 4 minutes, and that's unacceptable, as 2 days ago it would load pretty much instantly, less than a second for sure!

Just confused as to how all of this could happen to all 4 of my sites in the matter of a day! =(

    Thank you in advance!!
    - Kyle
(oh yeah, You should also know that I upload my images to my wordpress media library, then when I write/create the post, I provide the link of where the image is located. This has worked for every single post and pages for all 4 of my sites for the past 4 months, all up until yesterday. And every page on all of my sites would load instantly, yet everything loads so slow now, especially the two sites I provided in the post above.
If you need any other information from me, let me know! I'd really like to get this resolved!
Oh and I use hostgator for hosting, on a shared server, but I don't think this should happen overnight just because of a hosting issue.. Anyway, thank you again for reading!)

I would FTP into the wp-content/ uploads directory on the server and check to see if the images are still there.

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks everyone for he quick replies!

Josh, yes I have checked, they are all there. I've checked all the technical things, like making sure I've written in the right path, but it's ALL my images.
In fact, sometimes when I go to a page, all of a sudden the category widget on the side bar will show that I have no categories, then I'll refresh the page and boom! They are all there. Then I can come back 5 minutes later to find out it has disappeared again...

And esmi, I HAVE deactivated all the plugins on one of my websites, nothing changed, so I let it sit there. 10 hours later, everything on ALL my sites was back to normal, which was odd considering I only disabled plugins on one of my sites. So I activated the plugins one by one, and none of them had a problem. The site was still fine.

But then another 10 hours pass and it's back to square one! 2 sites running slow, 2 running fine, all of my images do not work (unless they are in the sidebars) - it's just the images in the content, both on posts AND pages.
(could it be that it takes a day or two for the site to realize plugins are activated or deactivated? Seems like it should work pretty instantly. Also, I only run about 4 or 5 plugins on my sites. OIO Publisher for ads, tweet button, facebook share button, akismet yet it is deactivated, and then on one of my sites I use wordpress audio player which works fine).

I'm scared about switching the theme, because I am running the Thesis theme, and wouldn't want anything bad to happen like having to re-do all the aspects of the theme and colors and options. But, that's what I'll try right now. Thanks so much esmi!!

(I've also been talking with hostgator, they say nothing is wrong on their end, the server is fine, but it COULD be plugin issues...)

If you have any other suggestions as to why could this be happening, please share!
I just find it weird that my sites could look great one day, then the next day they could look horrible and load horrible. Same with the fact that one minute categories can be there, the next minute they disappear.
And also why images don't work on any of my websites, yet only 2 of them run slow?
I guess I'll give all 4 websites now if that will help you all see what I mean by 2 running fast and 2 running slow:

All 4 will sometimes have images in the content (posts and pages, not sidebars), and sometimes they will not (again, sidebars are fine, I know!).
Here's the two that run extremely slow:
    http://videointerweb.com
    http://yourfreegraphics.com
Here's the two that run fine (besides images...):
    http://beatsroyaltyfree.com
    http://webcoremedia.com

Any help is greatly appreciated!! I'm really just stuck. I wish I could create more content, because I have another month and a half where I can spend 12 hours a day building the sites, but I'm just worried about all these issues that suddenly come up right when I'm free...
Thanks to everyone who has helped out so far!

    Kyle,
    They're all running pretty slow.
I checked a few of the sites against ismyblogworking.com, and here's one result:
    http://ismyblogworking.com/webcoremedia.com
(run any of your sites through that, and you'll probably get the same thing.
I would share that with the host.

Another thing to try is the exploit scanner plugin, just to make sure there's nothing fishy going hack-wise. I seem to remember there was a hacked version of Thesis that got into their download server: http://www.wptavern.com/forum/themes-templates/1766-thesis-hacked.html

Hi, I have just experienced this problem - it's scary.
My images are still not showing up.

My problem was initiated by overwriting an image with a new one, via FTP Software instead of going thru the wp_admin > Media area.

The new image I uploaded had the same name and had the same dimensions 60x60 px. The file size might have been Very Slightly different.

I guess it just didn't like me doing this.

    Please help - A*
    ( ps: I am using Thesis )

    @avery12345
You will have better luck starting your own thread rather than tacking on to one that is 8 months old.

List your url, and your version of wp.

My images are still not showing up.

All images? Not showing up where? In the post or in the editor?

    "More input Stephanie."
