Hi, I am using WordPress 3.5, twenty eleven theme. My problem is my pages are displayed like posts on the home page. All the content is displayed one page after another down along. Like a series of posts. I have created pages and not posts, I have made sure of that on the dashboard.

I created a menu and added my pages to it but it doesn't work!! When I click on it to view the pages I get "404 - File or directory not found"

Would like to know how I can get the menu to work and the pages to display properly as pages linked to the menu?

Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.

Yeah, thanks. I created a new page to set as my post page. I had the same page being used for Front page and Post page setting. That stopped my pages being displayed like posts on the Welcome page.

However I still have the Menu problem, my pages don't show just "404 - File or directory not found"?

That's looking a lot better now. You might also want to try turning comments off on all of your Pages. It looks more professional. Just uncheck "Allow comments" in the Discussion pane on each Edit Page. If you do not see this pane, click Screen Options at the very top of the page and check "Discussion".

With regard to the broken links, what happens if you switch back to the default permlink structure via Settings -> Permalinks? If that works, check that your site's .htaccess file in being updated (you'll get a message when you switch to a custom structure if WP can't update the file automatically) and check with your hosts that mod_rewrite is running on your server.

Ok, Thanks very much. The website is now working like a website. The Permalink structure is default but its working which is good. Can I find that .htaccess file in the Editor tag on the dashboard adminstration panel?

Sorry - no. You would need to access your site's root folder using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Do check that whatever method you use, you are viewing all files. .htaccess files are often hidden by default.

No problem. If you're still having problems tomorrow, just post a new topic asking for help with custom permalinks.
