[resolved] All My Content is Gone (11 posts)

I woke this morning and all of my posts and pages were gone. In my sidebar, the category numbers are still there and all of my tags are still there somewhere. I deactivated all of my plugins and that didn't do anything.

    WHAT CAN I DO?

Does your blog look the same except without the posts? Does it show a 'Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here.' on the homepage?

Thank you so much for the help!
It does look exactly the same- except on my sidebar:
-the post titles associated with 'latest comments' are gone
-the archived posts by month are gone although the widget title remains there
-there is no 'post calendar' anymore although the widget title remains there

It doesn't show the 404 error page, instead it shows "Not Found" and a search field and button under it.

Check your database via PHPMyAdmin. If the posts table has your posts in it something very bad has happened but you can get the posts back with some work. Else, upload a backup copy of the DB. Else, contact your web-host and see if they have a backup of the DB.

I don't mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist but I'm leaning towards saying that you need to act as if you've been hacked even if you don't know for sure.

    1) Change all of your passwords-- WP admin account password, ftp password, anything you can think of. Search the database for anyone with 'administrator' privileges and make sure you know who it is. If you don't recognize the account, at the very least change the password and give the account no privileges.

    2) Upload squeaky clean never used straight from the zip file copies of all of your WP files, deleting the old ones from the server-- though download copies for reference, but do not reuse them. Upload a new copy of the theme, plugins, anything. This might mean you have to recreate some of you theme modifications, unless you have a copy that has never been online.

Sorry, I might be over-reacting but your posts should not just disappear.

one thing I just noticed- I can't add a new post at all. I was going to post a technical difficulties notice but when I press publish it returns me to the admin page that says "0 posts".

I'm checking my database now, in the table with all my info the "wp_posts" has "in use" under "records, type, collations, size, overhead". Then I clicked it and mySQL says

    SQL query:

    SHOW INDEX FROM wp_posts

#145 - Table './ajasp13_wrdp1/wp_posts' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

Well, there is you problem. Forget the hacked part for now and see if you can get the DB repaired. You may need to have your web-host do it.

Is there something I can/should try before I contact my host?

Thank you SO MUCH for your help!!!!!!!!!!

If you have sufficient privileges you can repair the table yourself via PHPMyAdmin or commandline or some other software interface, but you need the right privileges.

OK. Now contact your host and try to find out if their logs tell them why the table crashed.
