All in One SEO Pack: What does "canonical URL feature" mean? (8 posts)

I have read the info about the plugin, and I have done searches in this forum, but I do not understand what "canonical URL feature" means. Do my pretty permalink settings stay the same, or does this change the url somehow? I'm worried abuot 404 errors.

It's a new WordPress blog, but I've imported many posts from my old blog, all with pretty permalinks set up just the way I want.

    Also, what is AIOSEOP?

I'm only a couple of weeks into using WordPress, so I'm still a beginner. Sorry if it is a stupid question.

    Thank you,

(also, is there a way to be notified by email that there is a new post? Thank you, again)

    hallsofmontezuma,

Thank you very much for the link to the info!

My question about new posts was for new posts to this forum. Is there a way to get emails when somebody responds to a thead in this forum?

    Thanks bunches,

Unfortunately they haven't made a way to subscribe to email notifications to the forum. We've been hoping for that for a while.
In the meantime, you can subscribe to the rss feed for the thread.

I am trying to set up the plugin. It is asking me the format for my urls. I am using pretty permalinks, and I don't want to change anything and get 404 errors. Is there a way to not change the links and still use the plugin?

All in One SEO Pack doesn't change your URLs. Use pretty permalinks for that.

I realize that now. I misread the info.

    Thank you,
