[resolved] Alignment on thumbs? (6 posts)

    Hector,

    Would you consider adding an option to align the text when thumbs are used?

    As it is now the text aligns to the bottom of the image which looks bad. I'd like it to center align vertically. It really will stand out as I want to move to 30x30 size.

    The other issue is the layout with the text appearing without any space next to the image. It'd be great if I could impact that. I know I can do my own CSS but I'm not good at it and it'll get overwritten with updates.

    You can create a child theme, or make your existing theme a child theme in order to stop it getting overwritten in updates. Link me to your website and i'll post the appropriate CSS to fix your issues.

    The site is slashcomment.com.

    Currently your plugin is right up front on the right sidebar without images until this is addressed. Would you need those on to help out?

    FYI, the reason I've avoided child themes is that we just had one and it was a disaster. Why? As soon as the main theme got updated we'd endlessly be reminded of the update but any updates invariably broke the entire site time and again. Due to that we decided to either drop in code and make a note of the changes to reapply after updates or try to stick with what's built into plugins and such.

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

    (...) I know I can do my own CSS but I'm not good at it and it'll get overwritten with updates.

    From the FAQ:

    Each time WordPress Popular Posts gets updated, the stylesheet gets reset.
    You need to copy your custom wpp.css file to your theme's folder, otherwise my plugin will use the one bundled with it by default.

    No problem. So what do I need to change to get the desired spacing/alignment?

    I have not tested this, but you can try and adjust according to your needs:

    /* thumbnail styles */
    img.wpp-thumbnail {
    	display:inline;
    	float:left;
    	border:none;
    }

    .wpp-post-title {
    	display:inline;
    	float:left;
    	padding-top:10px; /* you might need to adjust this */
    	height:20px; /* you might need to adjust this */
    	width:100px; /* you need to adjust this */
    }
