I just installed the latest version of WordPress on my new domain and haven't been able to activate the akismet plugin that was bundled with the files. Every time I click "activate" a message pops up that says
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
I'd like to run akismet as it worked well on my previous sites, but don't know how to fix this. Any idea what might be wrong?

Do you have any other plugins? Did you try to re-upload your installation? There could be a corrupted file when you uploaded. Link to your blog is always helpful.

Problem fixed. I deactivated a bunch of my plugins to see if they were causing problems and as soon as I did that I was able to activate Akismet. Thanks for the help.
