   Hey Folks,

   I have 2 websites, using a parked domain, both have akismet installed on both blogs, and Akismet is not working on either of them. For almost a day now I get this message:
   [code]Akismet has detected a problem. A server or network problem prevented Akismet from checking 53 comments. They have been temporarily held for moderation and will be automatically re-checked in 21 hours.[/code]

   I've contacted my host, lunarpages, and they said the problem is not a server issue, meaning it must be the plugin. I've used the contact form on akismet's website, but not heard anything. Does anyone here have any ideas. The plugin has worked great for years, suddenly it's gone haywire.

   No problems with Akismet on any of my sites.

   Thank you for responding. Apparently this has been a problem at times for a number of users. here is just one article posted on the issue. What I haven't been able to find so far is anything that rectifies the issue.

   here is a thread on the wp forum.

   This happens because your WordPress install is not able to reach akismet.com. The most common reason for this is a network/firewall/proxy server configuration limiting requests.

   Hey Joseph

   Thanks for taking the time to post here. So do I contact my webhost, lunarpages, about this? I've already done so, twice, and they said there has been nothing untoward on their end, but that this is a wordpress or akismet problem.

   They are welcome to forward any details they have gathered indicating that it is a WordPress/Akismet problem - akismet.com/contact/ - and we'll take a closer look.
