   I installed WangGuard since is works well. I thought I would also checkout Akismet. When Aksimet installed it deleted WangGuard. To add insult to injury, Aksimet no longer appears as a plugin; so it can not be deactivated. What kind of code does this?

   Am I now forced to use Aksimet. I never thought this plugin would be this aggressive.

   It sounds like something else failed then. There is nothing in the Akismet plugin that would deactivate another plugin, let alone delete it.

   Hi,

   I use Akismet and WangGuard on many installations without any issue...

   I think is a WordPress installation issue and not a Akismet or WangGuard issue...

   Activating Akismet is as simple as it guess. It comes with the new installation and waits to be activated. After it is activated it asks for the API. This is about as easy as it gets.

   With this in mind, maybe I need to restate the question.

   How do I deactivate a plugin that is not showing in my plugins list? I recently installed a plugin and the list of plugins is no longer the same. One is missing and the one I installed is not listed. The only plugins showing are Hello Dolly and Jetpack.

   Is this better?

   Hi,

   Use the FTP client.

   You will find Akismet in wp-content/plugins/akismet/

   You have to delete the Akismet folder and Akismet will be disabled.
