I'm using WP through Yahoo Small Business web hosting, which I'm assuming must run WP a little differently. I was not provided with an API number, so I registered with WP and got one, but when I activated Akismet, I was never prompted as to where I should place the API number. Some guidence on either what I'm doing wrong, or if I can place it in Akismet through Plug-in editor (and if so, where?), would be very much appreciated.

After you activate Akismet, you'll find an "Akismet Configuration" page underneath the Plugins page. Put your API key there.
