Okay, before anyone jumps down my throat for writing this, and the answer is on the board, I did do a search and all I keep getting is 'Page can not be found' Seems to be happening with a lot of the pages by the way.

I have tried to activate the Akismet plugin, and it is telling me I need a API code. Did what it told me, went to the dash board, looked for profile. All I saw was my account, so I clicked on that. Then it said to look for “Your WordPress.com API key is:? followed by a string of 12 letters and numbers. Well I am not no WordPress.com, and I did not see this anywhere in my profile. Do I have to have my blog on wordpress.com for this to work, and if not where do I get this number from? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

    Thank you,
    Cathie

    Head over to http://www.wordpress.com
Make a new blog there - even if you'll never use it.
Login and one of the options along the top, when clicked, will show you your API key.

  3. As far as I know, at present you do indeed have to sign up at wordpress.com to get a key.
