If you upgraded from a very old version, you may need to go back to that version and upgrade in steps, working your way up to 2.8.4.
Thanks, no, all these didnt help. Couldnt upgrade since 2.5 because the provider ran on 16 MB cache memory. Now he agreed to go to 64 MB. Since I’m a webmaster I have no problem to insert codes without a properly working editor. Just was wondering if there’s a solution without making a new install on a fresh database.
On the other hand, since 2.8.4 contains all components to run perfectly without bugs, it doesn’t make actually sense that it cannot upgrade from older versions, like 2.5. That 2.8.4 depends on componets installed at 2.7, this cannot be the case. Upgrade in steps? Never heard that before. What is missing in 2.8.4 that it needs from 2.7?
My visual editor is gone. I can code in HTML, but the buttons and the Visual and HTML options are no longer there.

Fixes I have attempted:
Cleared cache and refreshed browser
Attempted to use TinyMCE Advanced Plugin – no luck
Attempted to use Dean’s FCKeditor – http://www.deanlee.cn/wordpress/fckeditor-for-wordpress-plugin/ – no luck
Added define( ‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false ); to the wp-config.php
Deactivated and uninstalled ALL plug-ins
Did not check off the “disable visual editor” in Users
I have no clue on how to fix this!
