Support » Fixing WordPress » After upgrading – don't see featured image and more.

  • Hi,

I upgraded my WordPress to 3.1, and I have a few problems, after upgrade.

First of them is a featured image, I don’t see option, which in I can add image, when I’m editing posts or page.

Second, my images does not resize after upload, I uploaded image with 400×400 dimensions, and I set, that medium size has 300×300. I can’t use medium size in my post, because WordPress didn’t do that. (maybe I haven’t some php package?) // OK, I solved this problem, I didn’t have php5-gd library.

Next thing, is format in edit post, I installed new WordPress, and there I have this option, but in my upgraded WP, I don’t have. I mean Format: Standard, A-side, Gallery.

    Anyone can helps?

  • Have you tried:

    – checking through Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 – Master List

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

featured images are gone for me as well. I can turn off all plugins and switch to 2010 and they’re still gone so it’s clearly a wp3.1 issue. Boy, this will be fun to fix.
    WTF….

I deactived all my plugins and I do not have featured image or format in edit post page.

I read ‘Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 – Master List’ topic and I didn’t find solution.

Did you try switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

3.1 hides some screen options on posts & pages edit screensby default. Just turn on the ones you want.

I know, WordPress hide some boxes, and everyone can turn them on, but after open ‘screen options’ I don’t see featured image or format.

To everyone, I know something about CMSes like WordPress and another, and I usually check every options before writing a topic 🙂

There something must be wrong in WP files, but I don’t know what. I have been searching google since friday and I didn’t find any solutions. Results are now zero.

Can you screenshot what options you see when you click on ‘screen options’?

And I know you said you tried ‘everything’, but I want to make sure you tried a manual upgrade?

What version of PHP are you running and do you have any caching set up?

This DOES work, so something’s not right on your setup. We have to go through the annoying motions, cause we can’t see your server 🙂

By the way, are you using MultiSite?

On multisite, if you do not enable the IMAGE UPLOADS, under Network admin -> Settings, then …. well, that kind precludes having featured images.

I updated manually, because I do not have ftp application installed, I’m using SFTP to connect, and upload some files, if I have to. I have 5.2.6 PHP version with Eaccelerator cacher around the server, and WP Super Cache for WordPress.

I am not using Multisite, for sure.

Yes, sure I can, here You go: http://i56.tinypic.com/168wex3.png.

I don’t even say thank you for helping me, thank You 🙂

    Hi, it’s me again.

I saw another issue on my site. I have added about 25 new posts, and when I am logged as admin, I can see new posts, but if I logout I do not see any new posts, I see only old, before updating. But if I go to one of my pages, I can see new categories I added after updating and I can go to them and view new posts.

Generally, I can’t see on main page – /. I was thinking, that I have this error by WP Super Cache. But my thinking was wrong. I cleared cache, one again set up setting for caching and it doesn’t helps…

    Anyone knows, what is wrong?

Something weird happening after upgrade. I can no longer see my published posts and pages from the admin screen (wp-admin/edit.php). They’re all up fine on the site and I can access them from there. (Tell a lie, I’ve now got an ‘Error 500 – Internal server error’ error, but it was working, however, only with the HTML view, not the WYSIWYG). New post and drafts come up fine (but, again, not the WYSIWYG). Any idea of the culprit file before I try the upgrade again? I have another site on WordPress.com and the admin screen looks completely different (and works perfectly of course) and on a different host, using their copy of WordPress. Any ideas?

I know, what was an error, which has connection with showing featured image and format.

I have sandbox theme, and that is a problem, after chaning to twentyten or something like that I saw options above. It is possible to have this options in sandbox theme?
