Hi, just want to make you aware of an issue whereby recent versions of the plugin are breaking my design.

I have a custom design but I am using the standard WP image and caption shortcode & formatting as described in the codex: http://codex.wordpress.org/Caption_Shortcode

On older versions, my excerpts showed neither the image nor the caption. Now however the images are still removed but the captions are appearing and I can find no way (through configuring the plugin) to remove them.

I have reverted to 4.1.1 for now, which is working fine, although I would prefer to be on the latest version 🙂

  • Hi Michael,

It appears that there was a bug with the Strip Shortcodes functionality, are you able to try out a development version for me at all?

    Hi Chris,

Yes, I tested it locally and that seems to have fixed it!

    Many thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,

Good to hear! I’ll probably do a release of that code sometime shortly.

    Cheers,

    Chris

I’m having this same issue, Chris, with captions showing in excerpts. Any idea when this fix will go live?

I don’t think this is resolved.

I have version 4.2.3 installed and compared the file wp-advanced-excerpt/class/advanced-excerpt.php from GitHub on June 30 to the current version of the same file in v 4.2.3 (updated on Sept 4).

The lines 264-267 on the GitHub version have the fix for removing shortcodes before the_content filter is applied.

However, the current version of that same file in the latest release doesn’t include those lines anywhere. I added them between lines 242 and 243 and it fixed the problem for me.

Hopefully this can make it into the next version of the plugin so I can continue to update the plugin with each release!

Thanks so much for all your work on this plugin. It is truly great.
