I had version 3.2.1 and thought it was time for an upgrade so all I did was install the few updates to the plugins (weren't many), logged in and out no problem - I hit the 'upgrade' button and it seemed to stall and just sit there for a good 10 mins. After it really did nothing I was able to browse the site a bit more but once I hit the ''Home' button I received this message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function _wp_admin_html_begin() in /home/scream/public_html/wp-admin/admin-header.php on line 40
Any ideas what it could be or be related to?
Try:
- switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme's folder inside wp-content/themes and adding "-old" to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
- re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress.
- running the upgrade using wp-admin/upgrade.php.

Right I've got to the point of copying over folders and files - I see a file called wp-settings can it be replaced with the one from the latest release?
The ones I'm not replacing is the wp-content folder and maybe wp-settings?
Replace everything except the wp-content folder.

Just letting it replace all the files now except for that wp-content folder
