I upgraded the install, just like I have in the past, and after all I get is a white screen with this error;
"
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../wp-load.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php') in /homepages/39/d164526500/htdocs/xj/blog/wp-admin/admin.php on line 7"

Typically this means you have NOT uploaded a complete set of WordPress files.
Please review Steps 7 and 8 of Upgrading WordPress Extended and make sure you are using ASCII mode (or auto mode if using FileZilla) to upload files.
