I installed through Fantastico on Hostgator. Installation goes well. But when I try to login to wp-admin, I get a message that the site can't be found.
I've tried it through Chrome and IE. I've deinstalled and installed several times. I've emptied my cache and cookies, I've taken my firewall down. Nothing helps. Can somebody please help me further.

WordPress is not installed in the root (public_html) nor is it in a folder called "wp" or "wordpress" or "blog" which are all standard install locations. You need to find out what folder it's installed in. Then the address to your admin will be:
http://www.slrdigitalcamera.biz/FOLDERNAME/wp-login.php

When I look in phpmyadmin I see boc_wrdp1 as my database. But when I try http://www.slrdigitalcamera.biz/boc_wrdp1/wp-login.php I still get no results.
If I'm looking at the wrong place to see where wp is installed can you please tell me where to look? (I'm all very new to this)

You need to look in the root directory (public_html) to find the folder it's installed in, not the database. You can access the root through either FTP or the File Manager in your Cpanel.

Ok, I see the folders wp-admin; wp-content and wp-includes (and a lot more) under public_html
but I álso see those maps under the folder 'www'.
So how is it possible that you cannot see the installation?

Is there anything else I can do to make it work?
In your public_html where your wordpress is there a file index.html if so delete that file. Looks like you have place holder

I only see index.php, not index.html
looks like there is a place holder there as I see this
Welcome to slrdigitalcamera.biz. This domain was recently registered at namecheap.com. The domain owner may currently be creating a great site for this domain. Please check again later!
Did you set your DNS at namecheap.com to point to your host.
looks domain name is not pointing to your host I looked it up
Name Server: DNS1.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM
Name Server: DNS2.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM
Name Server: DNS3.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM
Name Server: DNS4.REGISTRAR-SERVERS.COM
Your domain name is still set to point at your registrar

Yes, I registered the domain at namecheap and the hosting at Hostgator. So what you see is correct.
You need log in namecheap.com and set DNS to point to hostgator they must sent a email with DNS settings.

Ok, I didn't think of that! I've changed the nameservers. And something has changed when I try to login to wp-admin. I now see a 404 page from hostgator that the page is not found.
So there is still something missing/going wrong. Do you know what?
You need to wait for your domain name to propagate as you just changed the DNS
