Every single page I create, new or old, show 404's after 2.1 I have updated my permalink structure, done everything correctly. Things were working right after upgrade, but now they aren't. If I even create a brand new page, and click view, sill shows the 404. Plugins activated or not, anything I do, still just 404's. Please help if you can.

    Here are a few examples:

even if you try to access the page template directly:

    same with me.
    any ideas?

Once the sideblog plugin is de-activated the pages show again.
I have checked things out with the prior wordpress version and it worked.

any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

My Clue: Find an updated sideblog plugin, or an alternative.

I have experienced the same exact issue; when I disabled the Sideblog plugin the pages began to work just fine. I then re enabled the plugin and had a whole slew of errors, I had to remove the tag in the sidebar template so the page would load (even with it disabled/enabled).

Shows 3.6 is compatible with WP 2.1, I wonder if they are aware of this bug.... ouch!

Try checking your default category. I had mine set to 'asides' which is what I was using in order to facilitate posting asides via a Netvibes module; however, it started causing problems with newly created pages because of how WP2.1 "brands" pages with the default category.

Once I changed the default category & then created new pages, Sideblog stopped causing the '404' error/problem.

Kates will still need to fix the plugin somehow, but at least now there's a somewhat reasonable workaround.

Thanks for the tip gpiper! I took a closer look at the database information and discovered why the category even had anything to do with this issue... Who know pages had an association with categories in the first place??

Anyway you can read more here: http://i.ndustrio.us/2007/05/09/wordpress-21-pages-return-404-because-of-sidebar-plugin/
