Advice on Plugin to create Member Forums please

Hi guys,
I’d love to set up forms and to let my website users become members and create profiles for themselves.

At present I have bbPress, but I regret choosing it. It is tricky and complicated for a rooky to set up, and there is too little guidance available or support in the forums.

It doesn’t work well for me and I’ve spent many hours trying to resolve issues without success.

I’d love to hear from someone who uses Forum software or plugins that work well and aren’t too complicated to set up and has support.

Any advice gratefully received.
