• Hi guys

Not sure what I should go for as a local-host. I’m experienced in theme development so far have been doing it all “live”.

What is the best set-up to have so that I can have a version of WordPress local on my PC (Windows 7 x64) so that I can develop themes locally?

    Many thanks

    Kenneth

  • Personally, I use EasyPHP.

I found very convenient to install dev WP on ReadyNAS hardware. Software is old LAMP. Very flexible.

    Hi itskdawg,
I use wamp as it is very easy to setup and use (I also run a Windows 7 x64 PC)

I’m obviously biased for ServerPress.com’s DesktopServer, some call it a WordPress Developer’s Dream Setup

    * Copy entire sites, including settings, plugins, themes, jump start projects.

    * It’s the only localhost server that enables true WYSIWYG in LiveView if you are a Dw user.

    * Create entire sub-domain Multisite solutions w/out having to wait on DNS propagation delays or slow networks.

    * Personalize each of your projects with your own fictitious domain name.
