I am creating a blog for the local community arts scenes. There are many different classifications of posts, and I'm looking for some guidance about how best to set it up, so I don't have to fix it later. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
- The site will be broken down into the different types of arts: theatre, visual arts, dance, etc.
- There will be different types of articles: News, Show Dates, Photos, etc.
- There are different venues for each art: Signature Productions, Rainbow Company, Insurgo, etc.
- Every posting will have three classifications - what type of art it is, what type of article it is, and what venue/company it belongs to.
- Users should be able to see every type of article for a particular art at a glance - one page with all the Theatre News posts, for instance. (I don't think anyone will want to see all News posts, they'd only be interested in Theatre News posts.)
- Users should also be able to see a particular venue's postings - one page with everything Signature Productions is doing, for instance.
- The venue page should show only one or two postings for each category. Only the active Events posts should be displayed. (I think this should be done with a Custom Field - set "Active" to "Yes," but I'm open to suggestions.)
- The Art breakdown would be the broadest, then the Article Type, then the Venue. There might be 200 Theatre posts; 20 of those might be Events; 2 of those events might be Signature. But, the Venue page will have 10 or so posts, one or two from each Article Type.
So. I've been back and forth about how best to do this. Categories for the art type, subcategory for the article type, custom fields for the venues? Or should tags be used? And, what about taxonomies?
I would be very grateful if anyone out there can help me make sense of this. Thanks in advance!
