Advice for category or menu setup (1 post)

I currently have a website using Joomla. This site has handouts, audio and video files of my lecture clases that I provide for my students to download.

I would like to switch everyting over to a WordPress site. I have just created a new WordPress installation and am confused as to the best way to present the material and set up the site.

Essentially, I have about 14 different classes which will each need their own page that will hold all the handouts, audio files, etc.

I would also like to make the audio files available as podcasts and list them via Itunes.

What would be the most efficient way to create the site?

Should I simply create 14 different pages and show them listed in a sidebar?

Should I create 14 separate categories with the same name as the class (in order to make it easier for category casting using the Powerpress plugin)

My theme does not have the ability to use the new WordPress 3.0 menu feature. I thought about using a Courses menu that woudl drop dow with the 14 classes. Is it difficult to convert a theme to use menus?

    Thanks for any advice,
    Gene
