[resolved] Advice for a short fiction site (3 posts)

I'd like to start a site of my short stories and WordPress seemed like a pretty good solution. I'm semi-familiar with CMSs and it seems fairly straightforward, although I'm far from a technical user. I have a few questions though, and am seeking advice:

    1. I'd like to require (free) registration to view any stories. Does WordPress support this kind of user tiering? If so, how easy is it to set up?

    2. Hosting: Any recommendations on where to host? There seem to be so many choices out there, and I'm feeling a bit like I'm staring at a bank of toothpaste brands and wondering if I need the Whitening formula or the Total. Like I said above, I'm looking for a fairly non-technical solution.

    3. Is WordPress the right solution? Probably not the appropriate place to ask it, but what the hell, right?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. You would need to look for some form of restriction or membership plugin. The kind of functionality that I think you are looking for isn't part of WordPress core.

    2. Please try searching these forums for "hosting"3. There are plenty of pre-existing topics on the subject and we really won't want any more - which is why hosting topics may be closed on sight.

    3. It's certainly a solution and I've seen WP used by story & comic writers quite successfully.

Thank you for your help. My apologies on question #2, I'll look around for something already started (so anyone who reads this now, ignore #2!).
