Advice and critique requested on my first WP site (5 posts)

    Good afternoon, all!

My first WordPress experiment is live, and I'm hoping for some feedback and critique.

The Seattle Bodywork Cooperative site is a multi-author blog. For the next couple of weeks (or so), actual blog articles will be minimal. At present, all they have up there is the redesign announcement. However, as soon as I teach them how to use wp-admin, I expect there will be fairly regular activity.

I still have a few things to add (like AddThis, a random image renderer in the "Founders" box in the left sidebar, and a few other tweaks). I expect these changes will be a joy to deploy as was the rest of the development experience, and I'm really looking forward to having this site in full flight.

Snazzier header graphics and more original background pieces will come at a future iteration.

As I mentioned in the title to this post, this is my first WP experiement (and I used Artisteer to help me with a starting theme). Even the most frustrating parts of the experience were surprisingly easy to overcome, so I'm very excited about the prospect of moving all my other projects to WordPress.

    Please share your perspectives.

    Thanks!

    Looks good!

..the only thing are the buttons on the left. Maybe just changing the color would to enough - they kind a pop out of the rest...

The sliding pictures at the top made me think of a find-your-lover advertisement. Maybe by adding a title, some people will be less reluctant to click.

Thank you both for the feedback!

der_stress: Are you suggesting I only change the color of the button text and eliminate the button swap? I have to admit that something about these buttons bothers me, and has all along. Perhaps they are indeed doing too much... I'll play with alternatives and see if I can find something less busy that also appeals to the clients.

phplayer: Interesting point. I can experiment with something like "Meet Our Practitioners" directly above the ribbon or even within it). Of course, I have to be careful not to grow the header much more, as it's already quite dominant.

    Thank you both again!

I agree with der_stress. The buttons on the left looks weird. The color gives it a look that it's stuck in the 90s web design.

I didn't look at the moving pictures at all, I thought it was an ad. You have to make that static, it will look more professional.

I like the sidebar design and overall color and look (aside from the buttons).
