• I am thinking about setting up a WordPress blog and was thinking about advertising.

Now as far as I am aware on the wordpress.com website it states advertising is not prohibbited unless you are a VIP member.

Is this the same case if you are hosting WordPress on your own server? I cannot find any information in the documentation about advertising on wordpress.org and I have seen many posts in the support forum about Google ads along with WordPress websites that have Google ads featured.

    e.g. http://aftermarketcng.com/

I appologise if this is a repeat threat however I would like some clarification on the issue. Also, if I have posted in the wrong forum I would also like to appologise.

Thank you for all help in advance,

    Kind Regards

I would also like to add, the blog would not be solely to generate money. It would be an information portal and the advertising revenue would be a contribution to me maintaining the blog.

Short answer…Yes, you can advertise on your self-hosted WordPress blog. You can do virtually anything you want with it as long as you are not violating the TOS of your hosting provider.

Thank you so much for your accurate, timely response. If this is the case then I think I will get to work first thing tomorrow morning!

    Thanks again,

    Murpho.
