I’m a little confused. I have read here that advertising on your wordpress blog is a violation of the terms of service, but I have seen wordpress blogs with advertising. From what I’ve read, VIP blogs or those managing their own installations are free to advertise using plugins. I take that to mean if I loaded wordpress on my own server I am free to use the plugins to advertise. Is that correct?

Yes. Those TOS apply to blogs hosted on wordpress.COM, not self-hosted installs of WordPress.org

Yes, it’s confusing. Sorry abotu that.

No problem, thanks for the answer. Time to go make the money. Hehehehehe.

So pretty much anyone can advertise on my blog correct? Do i get paid for those ads?

If it’s self-hosted, yes – although I’d be careful to ensure that none of the adverts break your hosting company’s TOS. As for getting paid, that’s for you to negotiate with your potential advertisers. 🙂
