Hi, I've been looking for ways of including various types of mini-loops in static pages, but they seem quite limited based on what I can glean from the support site and forum posts.
I need the mini-loop to:
1. show category names
2. only show certain categories
3. show dates
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks!
You can do all that. Just read up on The_Loop and Template_Tags and have at it.

Thank you - but I don't understand how that works for a mini-loop. Unless I'm missing something obvious most of these just work for the normal Loop.
Thanks.
What is the difference between a "mini" and a "normal" one?
And why Pages?

Hi moshu,
I need Pages with static text content in them, with an area of the page including a 'Recent Posts' section. This needs to show clearly what categories those posts are in. (I'd like to have as full control of it as possible - as much as using The Loop on a archive page).
As for the mini and normal loop issue...
See http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page#Adding_a_Mini-Loop for information about including mini-loops on static pages.
Thanks!

I guess something like Magpie RSS (http://magpierss.sourceforge.net/ ) may be a better bet for what I need to do... but it would be much nicer to be able to do what I need within the WordPress 'system'.
Any thoughts or documentation on doing it with WordPress would be great!
Thanks!
