Administrator login using openid broken

I installed the extension, used the standard configuration, added the openID URL to the adminstrator user and then tried authenticating using openID. The redirect to the openID site works, i enter username and password and come back to wordpress. Unfortunately, i am not logged in. Instead, i see the login mask again.
