Admin Page Not Found After Submitting Blog (8 posts)

    Hi there,

    I used Fantastico to load up to WordPress.

    Everything worked fine and I started to play around with some themes. I settled on one and started to post.

    I have one problem though.

    When I post a blog by hitting the publish or save button the page refreshes with a page not found error in IE7. In FireFox it just returns a blank page.

    The blog gets uploaded but I have to use the back button to get back to the page I just submitted the blog from.

    This is frustrating and wondered why it was happening when everything else was OK.

    I asked my hosting compnay to see if they could help.

    Their reply was:

    "I have tried many things from my practice but with no success. I have created a local php.ini file in which I have increased the maximum allowed execution time of the php queries an other variables:

    max_execution_time = 2400
    max_input_time = 1200
    memory_limit = 16M
    max_upload_filesize = 24M
    post_max_size = 24M

    Unfortunately this issue is not a service related one but a development one and it could not be solved by our team. Please contact the wordpress developers and ask them to assist you with this issue."

    Many thanks in advance.

    Kind Regards

    Andy

    Did your host think to check the apache error logs?

    If you visit Options -> Discussion, what do you have for "Update Services"?
    Does anything change if you clear that field and try a new Post?

    Hi there,

    I can't see "Update Services"? within Options -> Discussion.

    I see Usual settings for an article:, E-mail me whenever:, Before a comment appears:, Comment Moderation and Comment Blacklist.

    I will have to check about the apache error logs - will send a support ticket now.

    Also I was looking at my backup in notepad, as I am anticipating a reinstall (not done it before)

    One thing that stuck is that this is a new blog and there are only about 10 posts, yet the majority of the batasbase has entries relating to WordPress development. Is this the norm? and they came part of the original installation?

    I can elaborate further if this doesn't mean anything to anyone. I certainly never made these entries on the blog (they just sit in the database) and they don't relate to the topic of the blog.

    Thanks for any help.

    Kind Regards

    Andy

    Apologies, check Options -> Writing.

    Oh, and a lot of what you're seeing by browsing a backup file of the database (can I just say, "Yuck"?) would be the posts you see in the WP dashboard.

    I remember now I added a load of urls and this is when the problem must have started. I can't remember what the defualt 3 are that come with the installation but maybe I should stick with them.

    Just for a test I added http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ and it was fine. I will have to add a few more and test each time until I find the offending url.

    Is there a way to get rid of the posts I see in the WP dashboard - is there an option to turn this off? (At least I know what it is now)

    Thanks again

    Andy

    Something like this plugin may help: http://familypress.net/dasher/

    There are quite a few similar if you search around a bit.

    I tried the plugin and managed it so as the WordPress development feeds didn't display. This didn't make any difference and the majority of my backup is still all of these blogs.

    I'm assuming this must be the case for all installations.

    Am I correct in thinking this?

    Thanks

    Andy
