My blog is located at: http://www.brianchalfin.com/weblog/ and is hosted on my own account through Bluehost.

After making no changes/upgrades to my site, I tried to login today with my Admin and it said "ERROR: Invalid username." I've had this blog since 2005 and never had any issue like this. The site works perfectly and all articles are visible.

NOTE: There is no author listed for ANY article now, it should say 'admin' like my Administrator account is. I've logged in hundreds of times but I couldn't be sure I wasn't doing something wrong until I saw this- now I realize there is something not right with WordPress.

The admin account is the only one that exists for my WordPress so i can't try and login with another. At first I thought the admin account was somehow deleted but I checked the database and the Administrator user is still listed there as Super Administrator with the correct information.

Does anybody have any insight on how to fix this?

It may be that your username/password is messed up. From visiting your site, it looks like you have quite a few plugins. You may want to make sure that those plugins aren't causing problems.

Hmm, if your user account is still there, you may want to try changing the password. The easiest way is to change the email in phpmyadmin and then have it resend your password.
Or you can change the password this way, though the following directions only work with WordPress 2.3.* & older. With version 2.4 & higher these directions do not work because of changes that wordpress.org made you can find directions here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password .

    1) Open phpMyAdmin and select the WP database from the left column.

1.1) If there are more than one WP database, open the wp-config.php file that's inside of the correspondent WP installation and check the database name.

    2) Once the tables are displayed, click on the Browse icon (first table) that's associated with wp_users. Then, click on the Edit icon (little pencil) for the first entry.

    4) Under Field, look for user_login. That's the admin username, and you can change it to anything.

    5) Now, look for user_pass. Delete whatever is in there. Type a new password, and select MD5 from the Function drop down menu.

    6) Click on Go, and that's it. The new admin password will be encrypted in the database.
