Hello, I'm trying to help a friend that has tanked his site. I don't have a lot of WP experience but I've had my eye on it for a while.
In attempting to login to the dashboard using the "wp-admin" extension, this is all that we get:
Not Found
The requested URL /wp-admin was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.15 (CentOS) Server at (site).com Port 80
Does anyone know where I should begin looking. The htaccess file is blank. Should it be?
Are the files in the server?
Did you test wp-login.php : "http://your-website.com/wp-login.php" ?
And are you sure your friend installed WordPress at the root directory of his website ?
Yes, the files are all in the root directory.
No, I did not "test" the "wp-login.php" file. I do not know how to do that.
Yes, the files are on the server. I verified the files are there but did not check the content of them.
Simply go to http://replace-this-with-your-website-URL/wp-login.php
