I have been using WordPress for nearly 3 years with no problems, but yesterday I tried to log in to my Admin Panel and the screen went blank, I have nothing showing so cannot log in and edit etc, can you please advise.
Here is the Admin/log in screen
http://ukconstructionblog.co.uk/wp-login.php
It happened just after we tried to log in last time.
Thanks for your help
It's basically saying that it cannot find the wp-login.php file.
You should try to reinstall a clean download of WP, and then ensure that it works without any additions first. Then copy in your theme, plugins and uploads one at a time and test the site after each bit is copied, just to ensure that the site is still working.
Thanks for that I will give it a go first
Just a quick question, if I reinstall a new version will I loose the last two+ years of articles, pages etc?
Not if you do it manually - I.e copy and paste the files and then manually create a 'wp_config.php' file (search the site for how to do that). This will then not impact on your database at all.
Cannot get anything to work now
I installed a new version of WordPress, changed the wp-config.php details as explained on here, using the existing MySQL Database name, user name etc etc , uploaded all via FTP,
and now get this below, nothing happens when I try to run the Install script
http://ukconstructionblog.co.uk/wp-admin/install.php
and
http://ukconstructionblog.co.uk/
Any ideas please
I deleted my old files (kept old MySQL database) and so on then re-uploaded the new version of WordPress, then I get this message
http://ukconstructionblog.co.uk/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F
You cannot upgrade because WordPress 3.0.3 requires MySQL version 4.1.2 or higher. You are running version 4.0.27.
So, what version of WordPress do I need to go back to to get this working on 4.0.27 and can it stil be downloaded somewhere?
Hmm. Probably 2.9.2 or 2.8.6
Grab it from here: http://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/
And tell your host 'I need PHP 5' (just skip 4.1.2, if you can).
BTW, since wp-config.php is NOT a part of the WordPress release, you can safely copy the files from the zip right up, without worrying about overwriting it. That said, always take a backup first!
Thanks I will give it a go
