Admin functions missing in Firefox (6 posts)

I have not made an entry in my site since the end of May. Still running 2.5.1, which had been working fine. The only plugin working is Akismet. Using a third-party theme (on this and other installs).

Today I logged in with Firefox 2 and found that most of the functions/buttons in Site Admin were missing. Beneath the title bar, the Write, Manage, Design, and Comments buttons do not appear; at the right side I see Profile where Settings, Plugins, and Users should be. Beneath that the white space is compressed and empty — no Posts, Pages, Links, etc. Then I see the alert for WordPress 2.6, and the rest of the screen appears to be normal.

Safari 3.1.2 works normally. I usually use Firefox for editing, however, because Safari has some issues with the WordPress editior.

What I have done to try to fix the problem:

    • Quit and relaunched Firefox, and cleared the cache in Firefox (several times).
    • Checked the server for permissions for wp-admin and wp-content directories; they and the active files within are set to 755.
    • Checked .htaccess to see if there were any barriers; nothing there.
    • Read all the posts on the forum during the past week or 10 days and searched further for similar reports. All I found related specifically to 2.6 and were no browser-specific.

The only other oddity is that I have a different username and password for that particular WordPress installation. The others (on different servers) use the one used for the support forum. Firefox works with the other; Safari accepts either for this site. Have no idea if that could be relevant.

    Any advice? Thanks.

Updated Firefox to 3.0.1 but still cannot see or access my WordPress admin functions.

Is this a known problem? If not, any hint of a solution? Even a hunch?

    Thanks.

I was afraid to update to 2.6 because several who did had a similar problem, but why not? It‘s not as if things are working the way they are.

    Thanks.

Blow me over with a feather: updating to WordPress 2.6.1 fixed my problem.

    Thanks for the advice.
