    Hi,

I just setup a an updated blog at http://www.livens.org. I configured an Avatar for the admin email address and the moment I apply it, every single comment (even those from third parties) shows the admin avatar. Here is an example:

Visitor comments: http://www.livens.org/2009/10/19/migrate-to-wordpress/#comments (Note the Avatar image)

Admin comment: http://www.livens.org/2010/05/09/new-web-infrastructure/#comments (Note that the admin Avatar image is the same and also note that the comment above has a diff avatar.)

It is important to note that my blog was migrated from b2evolution and so this issue could be a reflection of database inconsistencies stemming from that. Can someone explain how exactly the avatar is chosen? Is it based on something beyond email? (The DB does show separate emails for each commenter.) Is there something else that I am missing?

    Thank you,

    JL

I figured this out. The problem was the field "user_id" in comments. It was set to "3" for some users and there is no user with that ID in the system. The resolution was to change the "user_id" of all those commenters to "0".
