Adjust Custom Structure

Hello, Can someone help me or direct me to the right source? When publishing my posts, the extensions appear as page numbers and not short/pretty links. The custom structure looks like this /%category%/%title%/
I did an advanced google search for my last post “14 Young Living Thieves” and http://www.eternaljoi.com/cyb nor http://bit.ly/bpCBzh appear. I am very new at blogging and every since the WP 3.0.1 upgrade, I’ve been having all sorts of issues beyond my level of expertise.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
