• AddThis was working fine for months on my wordpress installation, and I have updated the AddThis plugin several times with everything working fine.

Today I went to the settings page of the AddThis plugin to tweak them a little and the buttons suddenly disappeared from my Post pages (on Events pages from the Events Manager plugin they still appear for some reason). I reverted back to the previous settings, but to no avail (I had just put some JSON settings into the addthis_config, which I now removed)

On the new settings there is no way to say that AddThis should appear on Posts (there are only Excerpts, Pages, Archives, Categories and Home). How can I bring it back?

On further investigation it seems that although the HTML for the buttons is there, the Javascript for the addthis buttons in the case of post pages is not being included in the source. What happened? Why did saving the settings screw everything?

  • Can you share the site url? I will have a look. Also, what was the JSON you used in addthis_config?

All I had added in the addthis_config was the flag to remove the promo popup, and I removed the JSON back to how it was.

I couldn’t understand what was causing the problem and in the end I just uninstalled the plugin completely, I couldn’t leave the site with the sharing facility working incorrectly. Instead I just added the AddThis Javascript/HTML code directly myself in the template.
