Adding Your WordPress to Your Site Index? (9 posts)

I downloaded WordPress to my website because I needed a system for the index to let myself, as well as my staff, post news on the main index. How do I get the blog to show on my main page? Also, how would I size it accordingly to fit the page?

I downloaded WordPress to my website

    Have you installed WordPress?

And to use it in the fashion you suggest, you would probably be best just making a clean install in a subdomain/directory and linking to it from your main website.

    Yes, I've installed wordpress.

How would I do what you're suggesting? Also, how would I resize it to fit my index once it was linked?

Thank you for helping me =)

Rather than trying to incorporate your WordPress install into your current site index, it may be an easier option to do the opposite and actually make WordPress your main site and add all the content accordingly.

This will provide you with a database structure for all of your information and can easily incorporate everything you have on your site at the moment.

Not sure if that helps you, but perhaps something to consider?

I'd really rather do it the other way.

I mostly install wp to a folder inside my domain/main site. Only 2 of my sub-domainsare solely blogs.

Here is how I work it the way you want it.

The only thing you have to do would be the site navigation links be clearly marked 'website entrance' and 'blog entrance'. Or words to that affect so users know which link goes to which one.

And the blog, in its links, links back to the html section.

I might just wait until I understand PHP better before I do this, because everything I'm finding is either really complicated or not what I want =(

I'm not using it for a blog. I'm using it for a news system. The only reason I downloaded it to my Dreamhost website is because I wanted a way for my staff to be able to post announcements on the index without giving them FTP access.
