• Does anyone know if it’s possible to add widgets to the footer? It seems like some other themes are able to do this?

Ideally, it would work similarly to how you add widgets to the sidebar(s) right now.

I tried adding some stuff to the custom code footer section but couldn’t get anything working.

    Thanks for any help.

  • You would have to register the widgets areas that you want to include in your footer area first and then add code to the footer template file to accept those widgets. Once this is done you can then add the widgets in the same way you do in the sidebar. Some CSS styling and you’re done.

Below is a link to a comprehensive guide all about it:

    Ok I made it!
Using the recommendation above, found a way to:

    • add settings items in lightword settings page
    • those settings are the ability to add from 1 to 4 widget areas in footer or show none if the user wants
    • widgets do show fine, the rest is just css styling really

You can check my test site with the results at http://www.bug-is-life.com/
I’d like to talk to the theme author to add this as a feature in his theme, otherwise I can make a tutorial here, but if anyone could let me know if he’s interested, because I’m not making a long tuto for nothing…
