Adding Subdomain to current Site

I have a current site that is operational, and I adding a few subdomains. For some reason I was under the impression that the theme would be created automaticly from the main domain. Do i have to create a new wordpress blog on each subdomain, with the same theme if I want if to seem like the same site? Please help!
