Adding Social Media Icons to Footer.php

Hi,

I’m trying to add social media links to my footer template but when wordpress outputs the markup it seems to be adding my root URL to the links.

So where it should read www.facebook.com/myaccount it actually reads www.mydomain.com/www.facebook.com/myaccount

I have hard-coded the links into the footer.php template, not sure if this is the best way of doing it.
