[resolved] Adding Shortcodes to Excerpts / Custom Fields (6 posts)

    Hi there, first off, I love this plugin and have used it for multiple sites. Excellent job and thank you!

    I noticed in some of the recent updates the Excerpts no longer allow Shortcodes to be used. I actually was hoping to reverse this and allow them to be used, as well as, in Custom Fields. I have another plugin that gives custom fields extra features and in order to use them I need shortcodes to work. I'd prefer the Custom Fields to work with shortcodes more over the Excerpts, but both would be nice.

    So far I've tried the ideas in the following posts but to no avail:

    Thanks in advance!

    I am wondering the same thing. I'd love shortcodes to be used in excerpts or custom fields. Is this possible?

    Looks like you posted this about 4 months ago, did you figure a work around?

    I deleted this line from the catlist.php file;
    $text = strip_shortcodes($text);
    And the short codes work in the custom fields now!

    Excuse me, not the custom fields -- short codes work in excerpts if you delete the line above.

    Ohacastle, thanks a million for the response! I think I found a workaround or went with another solution at the time. It was a time sensitive project and it just needed to be done. I'll definitely save this for future reference, as I do love this plugin even more than cute pictures of cats on the web (actually by far!)

    So cheers and thanks for the support!
